Superboy Media!

On Friday night, Smallville added Conner Kent to the list of comics characters they've included in Clark's journey to becoming Superman. Following in the footsteps of Kara(Laura Vandervoort)Kent, who has had an episode entitled 'Supergirl', but has not used the name in the show, Conner won't be going by 'Superboy' any time soon, as Tom Welling's Clark has to take up the name 'Superman' first, but all the other elements of Conner's creation are more or less intact. Played by Lucas Gabreel, he's younger and less buff than his comic book counterpart appears, but it works well with Tom's Clark. Not sure if they are considering a spin-off (there was a similar rumor when Kara was introduced), but since Conner lives on the Kent Farm and goes to school at Smallville High, the sets are already there.

On the same Friday night, Cartoon Network's Young Justice returned, with its own version of Conner Kent. Since the episode focused on Aqualad's undersea connections, Conner was restricted to one slightly humorous scene:

Kerry Degman Joins L.A.Models!

Not that Alex Nifong, Austin Victoria, Ben Waddell, Caleb Lane, Cody S, Justin Hills, Leo Gallo, and Paul Roemer aren't terrific, but Kerry Degman has been taking a break from modeling except for the winter American Eagle Outfitters gig, so appearing in the promo for L.A. Model Management's Mens Board Promo by Christian Rios is sort of a big thing!

Superboy Vs Kid Flash Race Sneak Peak!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
DC Comics Blog presents a sneak peak of Superboy #5, on sale March 9, with an alternative cover by Francis Manapul, the artist responsible for Conner(Superboy)Kent's previous stint in Adventure Comics.
In the issue, Jeff Lemire and Pier Gallo follow up on the planned Superboy vs. Kid Flash race to raise money to help out the town of Smallville, devastated by damage incurred in the first few Superboy issues. With an appearance by long-time Super Family supporting character Pete Ross and the Teen Titans, the story gets off to a good start, and Conner notes the absence of Cassie(Wonder Girl)Sandsmark, which should mark this as occurring right around the time of their break up (also, Damian Wayne is there, so it has to occur prior to his departure from the team in the current issue of Teen Titans).

As a reader who cannot stand Rose Wilson, and her impending storyline with Conner in Titans, this scene with Lori Luthor endeared me to Lori. OTOH, whereas Lori is right about Conner contributing to the damage that he's helping to fix, she's not recognizing that there would be no town of Smallville to raise money for (or to get out of) if not for Conner.

Actually, Garth is dead, as that was the name of the first Aqualad, and the only member of the Teen Titans with that name (though Conner knows Lightning Lad, also named Garth, of the Legion of Super-Heroes), and the character that Conner is responding to should be 'Gar', Beast Boy's real name. And Krypto, as a full Kryptonian can certainly outrace Conner, who's only half-Kryptonian. Bart(Kid Flash) Allen can definitely outrace Conner, and this event was only supposed to be a fund-raising exhibition, so Conner's intent to win seems out of character, but maybe he's just caught up in the excitement.

And we'll find out what sidetracks them (because it's inevitable that something will)next week!

DC Comics' crossover event, 'Brightest Day' is nearing its conclusion as the various characters brought back to life at the start of the story disappear at the end of their 'missions'. After Aquaman disappears at the end of the 'Aquawar' segment, many of the heroes and heroines of the DCU show up for the aftermath, and Superboy makes an appearance, helping with the clean up.
