Following the preview visit by The Phantom Stranger, Conner(Superboy)Kent has a chat with Martha Kent, recently widowed adoptive mother of Clark(Superman)Kent, who has taken in the young clone of both Superman and Lex Luthor.
Writer Jeff Lemire follows up Geoff Johns' Superboy series in Adventure by including supporting characters like Lori Luthor, Lex's niece, whose possible blood relationship with Conner doesn't seem to be doing more than presenting a speed bump on the way to the inevitable hook-up, especially as J.T. Krul is currently trashing Conner's relationship with Cassie(Wonder Girl)Sandsmark over in Teen Titans.
A different type of action finds Conner on Main Street as Superman foe the Parasite attacks!
Conner manages to take the battle away from town.
And the second Johns supporting character, Simon Valentine, follows the fight, having revealed to Conner earlier that he was aware of Conner being Superboy!
Conner and Simon are then ensnared by plants as Batman foe Poison Ivy arrives! More with her next issue!
I'm liking the series thus far! The art by Pier Gallo is clean and perfect for Conner, while Lemire is giving us a nice set up of Conner's Smallville. I love Conner's relationship with Krypto and Martha, and Lemire already has promised a visit by Bart(Kid Flash)Allen, which should mean that Conner's close friendships with his ex-Young Justice/current-Teen Titans gang will not be overlooked. The Lori subplot doesn't thrill me, in large part because it seems to be driving the split with Cassie over in TT, which feels forced. Simon recalls Clark's boyhood pals Pete Ross and Lex Luthor. In old Superboy stories (when Superboy was Clark) Pete knew Clark's secret, but the interesting thing about that knowledge was that the reader knew that Pete knew, but Clark did not. Simon already yapping to Conner makes this situation different (more like TV Pete from the 'Smallville' series). Simon being an inventive genius is similar to Lex, of course, but I'm hoping that's where the similarities end. All in all, a good start.

The Sims 3 expansion pack, Late Night, was released last week, and I've been exploring it a bit too much lately. Though 'Late Night' refers to the urban nightlife features of clubs, apartments, highrises, and subways that are the expansion's themes, it might well have to do with addictive gameplay that manages to make one not notice the time.
Living in a city as I do, the idea of hanging around in clubs is not something I desire in a fantasy world, where I tend to enjoy having my Sim invent robots or run a successful vineyard, but the many new features that make the city work in Late Night are incorporated into the full game, so my vintner can now enjoy a relaxing hottub at the end of a long day.

Jeff Lemire and Pier Gallo debut Superboy #1 tomorrow, November 3, and DC posted a preview of the first couple of pages! The Phantom Stranger shows up and delivers pretty much an advertisement for the ongoing series to Conner Kent!
