Kevin Keller In Riverdale!

Archie Comics' new kid in town, Kevin Keller, debuts in Veronica #202 by Dan Parent, wherein Veronica spots him participating in a food eating contest and decides to date him. Kevin's competition in gluttony, however, Jughead Jones, gets to know more about the newcomer:

Misunderstandings ensue as self-absorbed Veronica fails to listen to her friends or to Kevin, and Jughead plots to keep Veronica in the dark out of a general dislike for her.

Eventually Veronica finds out the truth, but misinterprets Kevin's friendship with Jughead...though, to be fair, Kevin doesn't seem too sure about Jughead either. The jury's still out for this reader as well.

And, all's well that ends well. Kevin texts his friend William (as he does several times during the story) that Riverdale's going to be a great place to live.

Hopefully, we'll see more of Kevin, and perhaps William might visit. Since the central triangle of the comics is heterosexual and Jughead provides the cast with a non-interactive male already, Kevin's usefulness is limited. Other characters added for diversity's sake brought with them visual diversity, which Kevin doesn't provide. We'll see, I guess. I'm just waiting for him to meet Reggie Mantle.

Quicksilver Family Reunion!

Not sure where this fits in continuity-wise with Pietro(Quicksilver)Maximoff's stint as an instructor in the ongoing Avengers Academy, but Pietro makes an appearance this month in the Young Avengers miniseries "Childrens' Crusade", in which he meets his presumed grandsons, Tommy and Billy, twins with similar powers to those possessed by he and his twin sister, Wanda, the Scarlet Witch. Pietro's father, Magneto, has seemingly kidnapped the teens, along with the rest of the Young Avengers, and Quicksilver attempts a rescue.

Tommy intervenes, but is much more interested in testing his superspeed powers against his uncle.


Perhaps the best part of the issue, though, happened prior to Pietro's appearance, when Billy decides to disguise the group so that they'll fit into their European surroundings as they visit Magneto's wife's gravesite, and he costumes them using "The Sound Of Music" as his reference!
