Navy SEAL Matthew McCabe Found Not Guilty!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
From todaysthv.com:
"A military jury in Virginia has found a Navy SEAL not guilty on charges of punching a suspected Iraqi terrorist.
Jurors deliberated about an hour and 40 minutes before returning their verdict Thursday in the court-martial of Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew McCabe.
The 24-year-old Perrysburg, Ohio, man was tried at Naval Station Norfolk on accusations of assaulting Ahmed Hashim Abed, who is suspected of plotting the 2004 slayings of four U.S. contractors in Fallujah.
The defense suggested throughout the trial that Abed employed a standard terrorist tactic of feigning injury, perhaps even biting his own lip to spill blood onto his clothing."

War Of The Supermen Begins!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
"Events" are a tried and true way to sell monthly comic books, and they sell even more when several characters and titles are tied in to the main event. The Super titles at DC just wound up one such event, which involved the introduction of the bottled city of Kandor, which had been aboard Brainiac's ship since before the destruction of its (and Superman's) home world of Krypton. Restored to its original size when rescued from Brainiac by Superman and his fellow Kryptonian survivor, Kara(Supergirl)Zor-El, the tale of the Kandorans on Earth and, eventually, on their own world, New Krypton, encompassed several titles, involving much of the DC Universe, including Conner(Superboy) Kent, seen above with a groupo of folks meant to protect Earth while Superman (and often Supergirl) were off on New Krypton.
The "War Of The Superman" began with a free issue (#0) which laid out the events of the Kandor/New Krypton story, and continued this week with #1, wherein General Zod leads the Kryptonian army in an attack on Earth, just as a villain from Earth turned over to New Krypton by Supergirl detonates and destroys New Krypton, seemingly killing all except the attacking armies, which were off planet already, and Supergirl, who was locked away for protetction (and copyright) by her mother, Allura!

Conner, meantime, is among a group formed to oppose the evil faction on Earth, including Superman's Father-in-law, who was behind the detonating villain planted on New Krypton. Looks like fun.

Conner Kent in April Comics!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
In the Red Robin series, Tim "Red Robin" Drake finds that several people close to Batman are targeted for assassination, and Conner "Superboy" Kent is one of those Tim calls in to protect the intended targets.
Meantime, when we last left Conner in the Super-titles, he was trapped in the shrunken and bottled city of Kandor. In Superman #699 Kara, AKA Supergirl, and Brainiac 5 are tasked with restoring the city (and Conner), but it looks as if there's more trouble to follow!

Finally, in Teen Titans #82, Conner and Bart"Kid Flash" Allen return to the team in order to rescue them, and confront bad guy of the month:

As a Conner fan, it's nice to see hi making appearances in the DCU, but he's relegated to guest star in most cases, and is at the whim of the creative team of the titles he guests in. After being dead for so long, to be brought back, and given a promising series of his own that was cut short far too soon, it's frustrating that DC hasn't handled his return better.
