The CW picked up 'Smallville' for a tenth season this week! Initially a retelling of Clark Kent's teen years as he discovered his alien heritage (he was sent to Earth from the doomed planet Krypton) and super-powers and made eventual move to Metropolis, adopting the costumed identity of 'Superman', the show has over the years veered away from its comic book source material and formed a 'universe' of its own, for good or ill. Currently, Clark still lives on the Kent Farm in Smallville and works at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, which, in the Smallvilleverse is onloy apparently a commute away. Key characters such as Lex Luthor, Lana Lang, and the Kent parents have either died or moved away, and Lois Lane works alongside Clark, having already resided at the Kent Farm herself, and been practically a Smallville resident for several years. Created-for-the-series Chloe Sullivan is still a major player, as is Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, who is similar to his comic book counterpart, yet different enough to only exist in the Smallvilleverse. While the series has skirted its own 'no flights, no tights' rule by having some characters appear in costume and having Clark be the only Kryptonian who cannot fly, at year ten, it has to be time to finally make Clark 'Superman'.
Personally, I thought that the 'Superman Returns' movie was pretty poor, and the franchise would have been better served by having Tom/Clark transition from small screen to big screen at that point. But that ship has sailed. I'm a glutton for punishment where the Superfolk are concerned, so I'll check it out, despite wishing things had been done differently.

Adventure Comics #8 came out Wednesday, and the new focus on the Legion of Super-Heroes didn't entirely remove Conner "Superboy" Kent from the book, as feared. Instead, Conner is contacted by the future super group:
