"Spartacus: Blood and Sand" starts tonight at 10 p.m. on STARZ! I saw a rough version of the first two episodes, but they were entertaining enough, and with some tweaking the aired versions might be quite a bit better than what I saw. Now, I've seen '300' several times, so the resemblance of the first episode to that movie was a positive, whereas other viewers might have the opposite reaction. There is a fine line between 'homage' and 'rip-off' after all. The second episode seemed a lot more like a regular series, which probably made it more palatable to some, but more tedious to myself. Still, a faster ride than "Craprica" also debuting this evening. And the cast is better dressed.
An example of an outfit that might work on "Spartacus" is seen on Alex Loomans here:

It's part of an editorial by Saad Al-Hakkak for Spade magazine. According to The Fashionisto, "With provocative styling by Corey Ng, Alex sports a great deal of garments and accessories from recently featured label Greta Constantine." The article also refers to Alex as a 'dynamic poser', which apparently is a compliment.

Blackest Night tie-in issue 42 of The Phantom Stranger is as cool as I'd hoped! Written by Peter J. Tomasi with art by Ardian Syaf and Vicente Cifuentes, The Stranger and the Blue Devil (sadly, Zatanna, though appearing on the cover, was dispatched to the JLA off-page) confront Black Lantern ring-controlled Spectre and Deadman!

Scott Brown wins Senate seat in Massachusetts, maybe ushering in the government by the people that the founders envisioned rather than the rule by the elite that the country had settled into with dynastic congressional seats and presidencies! A bright start to President Obama's second year of his term in office.
