Of course, older shows I've enjoyed are returning, and I am excited by the cliffhanger endings of 'Alias', 'Smallville', and 'Angel' to see what the new season has in store! 'Angel' is apparently working in Spike from 'Buffy' as a regular, which I am ambivalent about, and is leaving Cordelia in a coma, which I am angry about, but the new direction of having the team taking over Wolfram & Hart is enough to make me check it out! 'Alias' apparently skipped ahead 2 years in Sydney's life, and there many questions to be answered! 'Smallville' actually has me curious as to where they will take the characters of Lex and Clark following their individual dilemmas at the end of last season. The only problem is that we know eventually Clark will become Superman and Lex his arch-enemy, so they cannot veer TOO far afield. Still, it's a well-done show all around, with an attractive and talented cast.
'Life With Bonnie' was my fave comedy of last season, and is back on Friday nights, so I am happy about that. Also enjoying 'Nip/Tuck' on FX, though they seem to be too interested in pushing the envelope to let any plots develop organically. 'Las Vegas' premiered the other night, and, though I hadn't planned on watching, it was very good! And even the new 'Survivor' had an unexpected twist that made me pay attention last week! I am looking forward to seeing this week's episode, almost having a favorite team at this point!
On radio, though I am tired of Matt Drudge's weekly 'Arnold bashing', old favorite Art Bell has returned to 'Coast to Coast' on Saturday and Sunday nights! Just like old times! (There was a period of time during which all-night Art Bell kept me entertained while hospitalized and through several rough periods; nice to have him back!)
Well, that's it for me for now! The couch (and the remote control) awaits! Oh, and 'Happy Birthday' to my newly employed brother!
It's not as if nothing has been happening in the world, but I guess I just haven't felt the need to comment upon anything lately....HOWEVER the new fall season fo entertainment is upon us and MUST be addressed!
I've been fairly negligent about reading any actual books, though I have been perusing the latest by both Cynthia Heimel and Ann Coulter, two wildly diverse points of view, but each a witty writer in her own right! I've indulged my obsession with comics by reading the CrossGen books 'Ruse' and 'Sojourn', each of which have great stories as well as artwork! Marvel and DC have put together the first chapter of their JLA/Avengers team up, and it looks to be a winner! Artist Mike McKone is so amazing on 'Teen Titans' that I am willing to forgive the loss of two of my favorite characters under a previous creative tem and praise the new run by McKone and writer Geoff Johns (who is still doing a nice 'Hawkman' and 'JSA')! 'Wonder Woman' has a new writer and a new direction, but it's too early to decide whether it's going to be worthwhile yet or not. Though the new scribe wants to focus on Diana's mission as an ambassador of her country, Themiscyra, there is the inherent problem of a nation of immortal women puporting to be able to instruct countries populated by diverse cultures, age groups, religions, and genders on how to conduct themselves. Preachy much?
I have to admit that cable has spolied me, and that I have not bothered with any theatrical releases in a while, jor do any picque my interest at this time. The next 'Matrix' and 'Return of the King' are must-sees, though!
'The O.C.' was my guilty pleasure for the summer though! Even if I could easily see what was coming at least a mile away, the acting and writing made the 'soap' easy to watch! I've been catching up on seasons of 'Farscape' and 'Highlander' which I had never seen, and they are fun! As is 'Seven Days', which I had never bothered with when it was being aired...
